Ride:
120km

Was up early for a very nice breakfast. Walked across to
a beautiful flower garden/house and got a picture in the early morning light. Rode
into Colmar and it is very nice – 14-15th Century cobbled streets
and lovely shops, cathedrals, etc. I then headed north but found the road to
Strasbourg too busy and narrow so decided to head NE via Jebshein. Finally made
it to Strasbourg but didn’t stay long – too busy, too dirty, and not very nice
at all. Nice bridge though (see photo) and cathedral (see photo). So, headed
north using the compass to get out of town and found a great cycle track which
did the trick. Then I saw a canal path so got onto that and it was flat and
smooth and on both sides of the canal. That is why I was able to cycle 120km
without being too buggered.
Couldn’t ring Wens today, phones not available at night time – really miss her all the time, particularly when I can’t call her – love her so much!!!
Couldn’t find a hotel in the canal towns, so kept going
(another reason for the long day) until I came across an F1 – great and cheap
as: €31.40 with breakfast – bargain! I
am going to look for these in future. Dinner was bread, sardines and bananas.
