Day 20: Tue 5 Jul – Hemishofen to Waldshut

Ride: 81km
14-23-13-28 deg

Had a fairly ordinary sleep due to the Swiss Army route marching past our hotel and taking shelter under an awning opposite our window. After a 7:30am breakfast of bread rolls, coffee and croissants, we set off with the threat of an approaching storm. We could see the storm approaching so took shelter at Eglisau railway station which had very nice trains and a clean station. Had a lunch of more bread, fruit and honey and took off again in light rain which soon cleared to a nice sunny day.

It was a great ride and although I felt it was very easy, Graham didn’t think so. I did offer to stop many times but he wanted to push on to the caravan park on the Rhine at Waldshut, where we had stayed before. We didn’t think we would get in as it was still school holidays, however the place was nearly empty. We had the same room as before (#2) at €24 ea. Had a beaut pasta and salmon dish again for dinner and then went for a walk to and through the Waldshut town centre.
